Year 11 students at UTC Swindon are celebrating this morning after receiving their Level 2 Technical Qualifications and GCSEs.

Excited students picked up their results on Thursday 24 August, having waited anxiously over the summer.

Staff at the STEM focused University Technical College (UTC), which specialising in Engineering and Cyber Security, are so proud of all the students, who have shone in so many ways in their time here and hope their grades reflect their huge effort.

The students’ hard work has resulted in:

  • 4+ English and Maths 38%
  • 5+ English and Maths 24%
  • 5+ English 37%
  • 5+ Mathematics 27%
  • 100% of our business and E Sports students passed with 62% of our level 2 Engineers getting a strong pass or better.

In addition to GCSEs and the technical qualifications, the Year 11 cohort have worked with numerous employer partners, such as Airbus, Raytheon, Aggrekko, Mercedes, Williams F1 and Intel. These additional experiences, ensure that our students are well-placed for being successful with their destination aspirations for the future. Some of our year 11 students have already secured excellent apprenticeships with some of our employer partners for next year.

Executive Principal of UTC Swindon Sam Knowlton said:

“We are really proud of the students in their growth and development of employability attributes and alongside their academic success. These have been supported by a dedicated team of staff and will ensure that the student’s springboard to their next STEM destination. We are looking forward to welcoming a number of them into our sixth form in September.”

Head of School Neil Pouney said:

“These results are testament to the hard work of all of the students and staff at UTC Swindon and is already proving to have set them up for the next stage of their future careers.”

We are of course proud of all the students for putting their all into their learning. Some of the stand-out results include:

  • Kievan Gallagher, who achieved 9s in Physics and Chemistry and 8s in Biology and Maths.
  • Bea Miles, who achieved 9 GCSEs with grade 8s in English, Maths and Physics.

Students at UTC Swindon study English, Maths and Science as core subjects and then specialise in either engineering or science along with other subjects. Alongside these, the students have had numerous enrichment opportunities to enhance their experience and importantly have engaged with local and national employers through different projects to help them define their direction and steps to future employment.

We are continuing to support students by providing information, advice and guidance on GCSE results day, and throughout the end of August and early September.

We look forward to seeing those who will continue their studies in the Sixth Form at UTC Swindon and wish well to those going on to other post 16 educational providers.
