We use laptops in lessons to support learning. It’s therefore important that students have a device ready for use in lessons.

Families have two options regarding laptops.

1.  Academia – we have partnered with Academia to offer families the opportunity to purchase a laptop or Chromebook as recommended by our IT department to support your studies. These are supplied at educational prices and families can pay in full or apply for credit and pay for their purchase over 12, 24 or 36 months. With this option the device you choose is yours to keep. For more information, please visit the Academia online shop at: https://utcswindon.edutechstore.zone

2. BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) – students who already have a laptop will be able to use this onsite if they wish. Students will be offered support at the start of term to set up their devices with the school systems.

Laptops need to offer the following specification:

  • Windows operating system
  • Minimum 8GB Memory
  • Minimum 3GHz Processor
  • Minimum 256GB storage
  • Internet access

Students will be given an Office 365 account in September.

All devices will be able to access any school software needed.  Which ever option you choose, you will be required to complete the IT user agreement completed in the application form.  A copy can be found at the end of this document.
