UTC Swindon join new UTC Cyber Group to prepare students for the jobs of tomorrow
UTC Swindon, along with a group of other UTCs up and down the country have joined to equip their students with the right cyber security skills needed for when they start employment, or move on to higher education.
Working with cyber UTCs across the country, along with the help of leading edge security and private sector organisations, the group looks to bridge the security resource and skills gap that businesses face, to help better protect today’s society from cyber threats. The group aims to equip a minimum of 500 students a year with the right cyber skills to prepare them for the jobs of tomorrow.
UTC Pipeline Programme is training students for careers with industry leaders
UTC Swindon has launched its NEW UTC Pipeline Programme for KS5 students, teaming up with leading industry experts, Fujitsu, Network Rail, Wiltshire Police and Japanese Automotive Manufacturer (Swindon), to run four pipeline days a year with students, to develop skills that young people need to succeed in the workplace.
Prospective students gain a glimpse of UTC life at the festive December Open Event
On Saturday 1 December, UTC Swindon ran a busy Open Event for prospective students and their families.
The event, which ran from 10am to 1pm, gave visitors the chance to tour the state-of-the-art facilities with a current student or staff member, take part in activities run by the departments and take home a bespoke laser-cut Christmas decoration, created in the main engineering workshop.
UTC Swindon Careers Fair opens up a world of opportunities
Students took time out to consider their next steps in education after receiving advice and support at the UTC’s Careers Fair on Monday 26 November.
Sixteen leading industry employers exhibited at the event, which was open to students from 2-4pm and to their families and the general public from 3.30pm.
UTC Swindon celebrates Student Wellbeing Day
On Friday 19 October we held our first Student Wellbeing Day at UTC Swindon.
The aim of the day was to give our students a day off timetable, allowing them to take part in a range of sessions and workshops about mental health. This gave the students some ideas and strategies on how to cope and manage stress during this crucial time in their life.
