Prospective students gain a glimpse of UTC life at the festive December Open Event

On Saturday 1 December, UTC Swindon ran a busy Open Event for prospective students and their families.

The event, which ran from 10am to 1pm, gave visitors the chance to tour the state-of-the-art facilities with a current student or staff member, take part in activities run by the departments and take home a bespoke laser-cut Christmas decoration, created in the main engineering workshop.

Taster sessions were running throughout the event to give new students a real insight into UTC life. Leading employer partner, Fujitsu also exhibited in the new Innovation Hub, discussing how the partnership works and what students can expect from the new UTC Pipeline Programme.

UTC Principal, Jon Oliver, gave a presentation comprising of key information about how a UTC differs from a traditional school, its curriculum, how it runs, and information on how to apply. There was also a ‘student voice’ section in which current students spoke of their own experiences.

From UTC Swindon, we want to thank all the visitors and industry partner, Fujitsu, who came along and made this event possible.

We are still accepting applications for Year 10 and Year 12. For more information about how to apply, please click here.

Our next Open Event will be held on Saturday 2 February 2019; however, we are now running weekly drop-in sessions every Wednesday from 5-6.30pm. You will get the chance to meet Principal Jon Oliver, ask any questions you may have and tour the facilities. This will be in very small groups, offering one-to-one guidance. To book your drop in session, please visit our events page.
