UTC Swindon students celebrate post-16 success

Students at UTC Swindon were celebrating exam results today. Students at the UTC study technical qualifications in engineering alongside a range of STEM-related A-levels. The UTC gained an average grade of Distinction+ for technical qualifications and a C+ average grade for A-level subjects.

Jon Oliver, Principal at UTC Swindon, said: “We are very proud of all of the students – hard work and determination throughout the year has resulted in them achieving a great set of results. We are delighted to see so many of them securing fantastic engineering apprenticeships and university places. We wish them the best of luck in the future.”

Following his results, Jordan Sanderson is moving on from UTC Swindon to work for Centerprise International. Jordan said: “UTC Swindon has helped me achieve excellent results, which will support me in the future. I am really pleased with my Triple Distinction* in engineering.”

Student Dan Tischer also achieved a Triple Distinction* in engineering. Dan commented: “UTC Swindon has really helped prepare me for my future. They have supported me and helped me gain an apprenticeship at Network Rail, which I will start in September.”

Joanne Harper, Executive Principal at UTC Swindon, said: “I am delighted with these examination results which show a significant improvement upon the previous year. This places UTC Swindon’s results at above national average, showing further evidence of the rapid improvements taking place.”
