On Monday 12 June, UTC Swindon students were given the opportunity to visit Microsoft Headquarters in Reading to experience a taster day for their Get On programme.
Get On is Microsoft’s initiative to help 300,000 young people get inspired, get skilled and get a job, through holding inspiration events, attending schools and careers fairs and working on a work experience programme.
During their visit, UTC Swindon students were able to explore the campus and take part in a variety of interactive activities. Following an introduction and icebreaker quiz, apprentices and interns inspired our students by speaking about their experiences and how they got to where they are now.
Students also took part in an interactive coding session, followed by a Dragon’s Den type workshop. Groups from UTC Swindon and three other schools competed against each other and we were delighted to see one of our teams finish in second place.
Our students highly enjoyed the experience and we are very grateful to Microsoft and Study Higher for providing such a valuable opportunity.
