UTC Swindon students celebrate GCSE and technical qualification success

Year 11 students at UTC Swindon are celebrating this morning after receiving their GCSEs and Level 2 technical qualifications.

We are really pleased with our results this year. Our English and Maths grade 4+ are up by 9% on last year. Science results are markedly improved with 44% of students achieving 5+ in physics, 78% achieving 4+ in Biology and 72% achieving 4+ in chemistry and physics.

We are proud of ALL students who sat exams – some notable ones include:

  • Daniel Dewey achieved eight GCSE’s with five being grades 7 and 8
  • Cara Pardoe who achieved 7’s and 8 in her sciences and Mathematics
  • Rufus Townsend achieved nine GCSE’s with 8’s in Maths, computer Science and Physics. Rufus will be leaving us to study music Technology at a local college.

Destinations include apprenticeships with Wilson Tools and Sunbelt rentals alongside a number of students staying on at sixth form to study Engineering, Esports and Cyber Security.

Headteacher Hollie Taylor (née Danby), said:

“A massive well done to the Year 11 students for all their hard work over the past two years. We wish students moving onto College and Apprenticeships the best of luck and look forward to welcoming back those joining the sixth form in September.”

In addition to GCSEs and the technical qualifications, the Year 11 cohort have worked extensively with a variety employer partners to improve their work-readiness. These additional experiences ensure that our students are well-placed for future success with their destination aspirations.

Our vision is to ‘Transform Lives Through Learning’ and the journey our students have been on while at UTC Swindon means they are well prepared for the next step.

We look forward to seeing those who will continue their studies in the Sixth Form at UTC Swindon and wish well to those going on to other post 16 destinations.

UTC Swindon is continuing to support students by providing information, advice and guidance on results day.
