Jo Garton, presenter at Swindon 105.5 came in to the UTC earlier this month to speak to three current students and Principal, Jon Oliver about life at the UTC.

The School’s Out programme runs weekdays 4-5pm, Mondays to Thursdays and includes features about schools, colleges and young people’s interests.

The UTC Swindon feature begins with Principal Jon Oliver (from 4:31 – 18:24 mins) who talks about what drew him to working at the UTC, what’s different about UTCs in comparison to other schools and looking forward to the future.

Jon talks about extending UTC Swindon’s specialisms to meet local needs and why local schools should not see them as competition, but as providing something different instead.

Jo then switches the spotlight to three current UTC Swindon Students; Kelsey, Adam (both Year 10) and Ziemowit (Year 12) – from 19:20 – 32:16 mins

Jo asks them why they came to the UTC and in particular, what drew them to join at 14. They talk about the reactions from their friends, what the curriculum involves and what their aspirations are for the future.

A truly honest and real insight into the world of UTC Swindon; thanks to all involved.
