UTC Swindon’s Year 13 students are celebrating this morning after picking up their A Level and Level 3 qualification results, securing them places on prestigious degree apprenticeships and university places.
UTC Swindon, which recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary, is a STEM-focused school and sixth form specialising in digital, cyber security and engineering.
A Level
We have had an increase in the number of students sitting A Levels this year it is over double from last year. The results have improved with 16% of grades at A*-B.
Technical subjects
33% of grades were a Distinction or Distinction* in BTEC L3 Engineering
75% of grades were a Merit or Distinction in BTEC L3 Esports
61% of all grades were at least a Merit with 100% of students passing their BTEC’s in Engineering, IT and Esports
Several of our students have landed apprenticeships and degree apprenticeships at prestigious firms including Airbus, Renshaw and JDR.
Students have also gained places on sought-after courses at universities including Gloucester and UWE.
Headteacher Hollie Taylor, said: “I am immensely proud of all the Year 13 students and everything they have achieved over the past 2 or 4 years at UTC Swindon. It’s been an honor to see them grow and develop into the fantastic young adults they have become. I wish the best of luck to every student, whether they are starting an apprenticeship or going to university. We look forward to catching up with them in the future as part of our alumni and them coming to speak to our future students about their experiences. Once again well-done Year 13 and best of luck with your future.”
Notable achievements include:
- Ben Tong achieved three Distinction * in his BTEC extended diploma in Engineering and a grade B in his A Level Maths. He will be starting his degree level apprenticeship in Mechanical engineering with Renshaw on the 27 August. Ben joined UTC Swindon in year 10 and has been part of a whole host of extra-curricular activities from the student board to setting up the driving simulator and getting involved in projects and competitions including one with the IET to raise money for the driving simulator. Ben said he is feeling really happy about his results and has really enjoyed his time at UTC Swindon.
- Josh Whitmore, A Levels in Maths, Physics and Computer Science, will be going on to University of Gloucester to study a Computer Science degree
- Ishap Modassir Mushtaq, A Level Maths – B, A Level Computer Science – C, Cyber security – Pass, University – UWE, Computer Science degree
- Felix Wells, BTEC level 3 extended dipolma in Engineering- MMM, Level 6 apprenticeship at JDR in Cambridge
