EXAM INVIGILATORS

We are seeking reliable, detail-oriented individuals to join our team as Casual Examination Invigilators. The role supports the smooth and secure running of both internal and public examinations throughout the academic year.

As an Examination Invigilator, you will:

  • Supervise exams in line with the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) regulations and awarding body requirements.
  • Ensure the integrity and security of each exam session.
  • Safeguard the health, safety, and welfare of all candidates during examinations.
  • Provide support for students with access arrangements, who typically sit exams in smaller rooms.

We’re looking for candidates who are:

  • Professional, patient, and polite, with the ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Able to build rapport with young people and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented, observant, and able to follow procedures precisely.
  • Flexible in availability, especially during peak exam periods.

Training & Requirements:

Invigilators are required to complete annual paid training, both online and in-house, to meet JCQ standards. This includes modules on access arrangements. In addition to training, invigilators are expected to familiarise themselves with JCQ’s Instructions for Conducting Examinations.

Exam Periods & Working Hours:

Examinations take place during the following periods:

  • From early May to end of June

We offer flexible scheduling but ideally seek candidates who can commit to at least one session per school day during exam periods.

We offer: 

  • Hourly rate: £12.71 (plus holiday pay)
  • Zero-hour contract
  • Paid training

    ABOUT US

    The UTC opened in September 2014 with a new approach to educating 14-19 year olds; through a focus on technical subjects that bridge the gap between the world of education and the world of work.

    All students at UTC Swindon specialise in either Engineering, Digital or Cyber Security; at 14 they also study a rich, balanced curriculum and at post 16 the curriculum becomes more specialist. At capacity, we will be educating 600 students who will all have a passion for Engineering or Digital; it truly is an inspirational environment. 

    We pride ourselves on our strong team, unique curriculum, excellent training and flexible work opportunities. We are passionate about providing the best opportunities for our staff and our young people.  

    Our school hours are 8.30am to 4pm. UTC Swindon is centrally located with excellent transport links close by.
