REME set Engineering challenge

Members of the REME (Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers) joined us on Tuesday 9 October to launch a competition with our Year 12 Engineers to redesign a Challenger Tank Recovery Vehicle.

The students have been given a project brief and split into teams to work on the project, which is primarily aimed at reducing the overall weight of the vehicle. This will enable it to travel faster, use less fuel or carry more rescue equipment.

After half term the students will be visiting MOD Lyneham to get hands-on with the equipment and increase their knowledge of the project and then start working on their solutions.

We are very lucky to be able to work with the Army and other employers on real projects that reflect the type of work our students may do when they reach their destination either in industry or higher education.
