This week, ten Year 10 students visited Wolfson College to attend a Study Higher Science Conference, hosted by the University of Oxford, in partnership with University of Reading.

The visit was a great opportunity for students considering further studies in science to be introduced to the related subjects that are available at university. The main focus was on subjects such as Earth Sciences (Geology), Zoology, Maths and Engineering.

The conference was interactive yet instructive, with students having the chance to attend two science subject taster sessions of their choice. There were also workshops linking science subjects with careers, where students had the chance to ask current university students questions about their experience of their course and what life is really like at university.

The day was also informative for teachers, as they had the opportunity to attend brief information sessions on activities and discover what resources are available to schools and students.

We would like to thank the University for an enlightening day and hope to have the opportunity to visit again soon.
