UTC Reading and UTC Swindon staff collaborate at SLT conference
UTC Reading and UTC Swindon’s Senior Leadership Teams came together on Thursday 6 and Friday 7 July for a conference, giving them the opportunity to share best practice and plan together for the next academic year.
Joanne Harper, Executive Principal at UTC Reading and UTC Swindon, commented: “The conference was a fantastic opportunity to bring the two UTC teams together and share experiences, ideas and expertise. It is working together in this way that highlights the positive impact that working together in a multi Academy Trust, such as ALET can bring. At the end of the two days everyone left feeling positive and looking forward to the year ahead.”

A group of UTC Swindon students competed against eight other schools in an engineering challenge at this year’s Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT).
The competition followed a visit to the UTC by STEMworks and NATS in May, tasking students with designing and building a tower to enable them to send a message by raising a flag and using a flashing light.

We were recently delighted to welcome students interested in joining us in September to an open day and practical workshop.

Student thrives at Torin-Sifan work placement
Year 12 student Ben Rickards had a fantastic two weeks of work experience with Torin-Sifan this term.
Torin-Sifan was suggested as a suitable placement for Ben due to his passion and enthusiasm for mechanical and electrical engineering. He was looking forward to the chance to broaden his understanding of the engineering workplace and improving his practical skillset.
Extra-curricular student achievements
We are always delighted to hear about our students’ achievements through extra-curricular activities they take part in outside the school day.
