Careers fair welcomes local businesses

Earlier this week UTC Swindon students participated in a day of workshops focussing on careers and opportunities after UTC Swindon.

Workshops started from 9am and included topics such as financial awareness, opportunities in STEM, mock interviews and writing personal statements. One of the sessions focussed on self-reflection using the STAR technique to identify how they handled specific situations in respect to team leadership, problem-solving and achievements.

The day also included a careers fair open to students featuring industry partners and local businesses offering potential pathways and scope of how the STEM skills they are learning can translate into the workplace. Students were able to visit each of the stands and ask any questions they had about their career options as well as gain advice.

Sean who has been considering an apprenticeship with BMW Mini said; I’ve been quite interested in mechanical engineering for quite a while, this has given me the extra support and insight I needed for it.

We would like to thank all the exhibitors for coming and creating a valuable experience for our students at UTC Swindon.
